De „Catharina van Mijdrecht“

was build in 1916 as one of the last sailing cargo vessels. After a long cargo service this "klipperaak" started her second career as passenger ship in 1980. By the restoration a lot of effort was put in the original appearance of the ship. The interior has got an authentic atmosphere whereby the sleeping cabins are fitted with basic convenience. The Passenger accommodation is spacious and cozy so also a larger group has pleasant seats. On deck there are seats for everybody and for the lovers there is a spacious sundeck. For the youth there are a lot of activities available such as games, fish nets, balls and two small boats.
The various departure harbors makes a wide sailing area available, in the preseason you can start your trip in Amsterdam for a cultural excursion. In the summer months the journey starts in Den Oever so beside the wadden islands you can visit the Friesian lakes and sail the northern part of Lake IJssel.
Also the size of the ship makes the sailing area almost unlimited. The limited draught of the ship makes it possible to cross the shallow waddensea and a declinable mast allows it to go where other can't. The Smaller and quiet harbors and uninhabited islands are no problem for this ship.
The simple and easy to handle rigging of the Catharina make her attractive for both beginning and experienced sailors. Under most weather conditions you will arrive comfortable and swift at the next harbor.
We, an experienced skippers' pair, keeps our ship clean and tidy and are used to make your stay on board a pleasend one. Summarized, the "Catharina van Mijdrecht" is the ideal ship for your family party, business meeting, company outing, and school or youth camp. For example; a day sailing on Lake IJssel, a cultural weekend to ancient "Zuiderzee" cities or an adventurous waddensea trip. You can prepare your own meals on board or ask for the extended cater possibilities, from a simple coffee table to fully provided meals.
